FAQ

What is Packrafting?
Packrafting is a form of paddling where you use a lightweight, inflatable boat that fits in your backpack – a packraft. It blends the best of hiking and paddling: hike to a remote waterway, inflate your raft, and continue your journey on water. Packrafts are portable, durable, and suitable for both calm lakes and wild whitewater. It’s a perfect sport for adventurous nature-lovers who want to go beyond the beaten path – on land or water.
What is Whitewater Paddling?
Whitewater paddling means navigating moving water – rivers and rapids – where the current forms waves, eddies, and swirling flows. It requires technique, river-reading skills, and a good understanding of safety. It’s both a thrilling challenge and a way to connect deeply with nature’s power.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone interested in learning the basics of whitewater paddling safely. No prior experience is needed, but participants must be able to swim and to be in good overall health.
Do I need my own packraft or gear?
Nope! A gear package (packraft, paddle, helmet, and personal flotation device (PFD)) will be provided for you to use during the course, and it’s included in the course price. Please note that a wetsuit or drysuit is not included, but can be rented from us for an additional fee. You’re also welcome to bring your own gear if it’s suitable for whitewater use.
How physically demanding is the course?
The course includes paddling, swimming, and moving around riverbanks in variable conditions. Basic fitness is enough, but be prepared for a full and active day outdoors. Bringing small snacks might be a good idea.
Can I attend just the basic or just the advanced course?
Yes. You can join only the 1-day basic course or just the advanced course if you already have foundational skills. However, we recommend the full 2-day experience for the best results and a safe start to your packrafting journey.
Where is the course held?
Course locations vary, but all take place in Northern Lapland, within easy reach of Ivalo or Rovaniemi. You’ll receive detailed location info upon booking.
What is the cancellation policy?
