Whitewater Packrafting Advanced Course

Take your whitewater packrafting skills to the next level and prepare to face more challenging rapids with confidence and control.

This one-day advanced course is designed for paddlers who already have basic whitewater experience and want to improve their technique in more demanding conditions. You’ll use a packraft and learn advanced paddling skills such as eddy crossings, sweep turns, and self-rescue techniques in more dynamic situations than on the basic course.

You’ll also train group safety and rescue techniques, including how to handle emergency scenarios. Practical sessions take place on intermediate to advanced whitewater (Class II–III, novice to intermediate) under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

FAQ

Who is this course for?
This course is for paddlers who already have basic packrafting and whitewater experience. You don’t need years of practice, but you should be comfortable with core techniques and paddling in Class I–II rapids (easy and novice class).
Do I need my own packraft and gear?
No, a gear package (packraft, paddle, helmet, and personal flotation device (PFD)) will be provided for you to use during the course, and it’s included in the course price. Please note that a wetsuit or drysuit is not included, but can be rented from us for an additional fee. You’re also welcome to bring your own gear if you’ve already invested in packrafting equipment.
Is the course physically demanding?
Yes, this course requires a reasonable level of fitness. You’ll be paddling and moving in challenging river environments, often in the water. You should be able to swim and be ready for a full, active day outdoors. If you’ve completed the basic course or have some paddling experience, you’ll be well prepared.
Can I join if I haven’t taken the basic course?
Yes, as long as you have equivalent experience paddling in moving water. If you’re unsure about your skill level, feel free to contact us – we’ll help assess whether the advanced course is the right fit for you.
